      上周丰田公司总裁丰田章男出席了美国的听证会，就汽车安全问题接受了美国议员的质询。他在听证会上向消费者道歉。他说道：

      I regret that this has resulted in the safety issues described in the recalls we face today, and I am deeply sorry for any accidents that Toyota drivers have experienced。

      我很抱歉这导致了我们今天面对的召回中的安全问题，对丰田的司机们遭遇过的任何事故都感到由衷的抱歉。

      In the past few months our customers have started to be unsure about the safety of Toyota vehicles, and I take full responsibility for that。

      在过去几个月里，我们的消费者开始怀疑丰田汽车的安全性，对此我承担全部的责任。丰田章男已于3月1日来到北京向中国消费者道歉，他说：

      Iwould like to apologize from the bottom of my heart for the worriesthat we have caused to the people around the world, including China,for the recent recalls. I'm very sorry。

      我发自内心的为我们给包括中国在内的全球消费者带来的担忧表示道歉，为我们最近的召回事件表示道歉。真的对不起。恐怕丰田在开始召回第一辆车的时候也没有想到事情会落到今天这个局面。这次的召回加上之前传出的内部文件对丰田这个品牌绝对算得上是个重大的打击。做品牌和做企业，诚信总是最重要的。

      你没看错，就是美国总统奥巴马。奥巴马的这次道歉说起来是因为一件“小事”。哈佛教授晚上回家没带钥匙，想破门而入，结果被警察以为他入室盗窃抓了。因为是白人警察抓了黑人教授，所以在社会上引起了争论。奥巴马总统在这起事件中发表了不当言论。他就是为了这个不当言论道歉的。

      Because this has been ratcheting up and I helped contribute to ratcheting it up, I want to make clear thatin my choice of words I unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department or Sergeant Crowley specifically, and I could have calibrated those words differently。

      因为这件事被炒起来了，我还在引发争论方面推波助澜了。我想说明的是，我措辞的时候很不幸的给人留下了不好的印象，好像我刻意在说剑桥警察局或者克劳力警官的坏话，我本该说话的时候更谨慎点的。据说前美联储主席格林斯潘随便说句话，股市都能晃荡晃荡。所以说，公众人物就是公众人物，话不是随便说的。奥巴马最后不得不在白宫请教授和警官一起召开“啤酒峰会”来大事化小。
