国际奥委会2月1日在其官方网站头条位置刊文庆祝。文章称：“北京作为第一个既举办过夏季奥运会又举办过冬季奥运会的城市，去年给世人呈现了一届惊艳的冬奥会。”
TheIOCpointedoutthatOlympiclegacieshadalreadybeencreatedbeforetheGamesasChinastrivedtobuilditselfintoasnowandicedestination. "Bythebeginningof 2021, thecountryhadalreadybuilt 654 standardicerinks, upby 317 percentcomparedwith 2015; and 803 indoorandoutdoorskiresorts, upby 41 percentfrom 2015 levels."
文章写道，将中国打造成为一个新的冰雪运动胜地的目标其实早在冬奥会开始前就达成了。“2021年初中国就已经有654个标准冰场、803个室内和室外滑雪场，分别比2015年增加了317%和41%。”
Theeffortsbringlong-standinginfluenceasareportonChina'ssnowandicetourismdevelopmentpredictsthatthenumberofsnowandiceleisuretravelersinChinaisexpectedtoexceed 300 millioninthe 2022-2023 snowandiceseason. Thenumberisexpectedtoreach 520 millioninthreeyears, andtherelatedtourismrevenuewillreach 720 billionyuan.
这些努力带来了长期的影响。一份关于中国冰雪旅游发展的报告预测，在2022-2023年冰雪季节，中国冰雪休闲旅游游客的数量预计将超过3亿人次。2024-2025雪季中国冬季旅游人数将超过5.2亿人，预计收入7200亿元人民币。

文章称，水立方被改造为“冰立方”，用来举办北京冬奥会冰壶比赛。“冰立方”引起了公众的极大兴趣，开放第一天就迎来超过3000名游客，获得“最热的冰”的称号。
"TheorganizersalsomadesuretheGamesminimizedtheirimpactontheenvironmentbyprioritizingtheuseofexistingvenues, usingrenewableenergytopowerallthevenues, andimplementinginnovativetechnology, suchastheCO2 refrigerationsystemsthatwillhelpmakewintersportsmoresustainable."
“北京冬奥组委还尽量减少赛事对环境带来的影响，措施包括优先使用既有场馆、所有场馆使用可再生能源以及应用二氧化碳制冷体系等新科技。这些都使得冬季运动更加可持续。”
