Hetoldhimhehadbetterreturnitorhewouldcallthepolice. AlekodeniedtakingitandledDimitriintohisbackyard. Itwastruethathehadjustboughtalamb, heexplained, buthislambwasblack. Ashamedofhavingactedsorashly, DimitriapologizedtoAlekoforhavingaccusedhim. WhiletheyweretalkingitbegantorainandDimitristayedinAleko'shouseuntiltherainstopped. Whenhewentoutsidehalfanhourlater, hewasastonishedtofindthelittleblacklambwasalmostwhite. Itswool, whichhadbeendyedblack, hadbeenwashedcleanbytherain!
