Mortimerthoughtofwithdrawingfromthecontestoutofprotest, buthedecidednotto. Hewasthefavorite; hewasnotgoingtowithdraw!
杰德离开工作人员，穿上羊毛衫，过来参加举重比赛。几个家伙有点儿犹豫，可是他来参加比赛是在适当范围之内。听到消息，莫蒂默走过来立即看了看比赛规则！一个字一个字地看过之后，他知道他们是对的：普通工人、非俱乐部成员杰德可以参加比赛。莫蒂默想过退出比赛以示抗议，但最后打消了念头。他是最有希望的获胜者，他才不退出呢！
Thenthecontestbegan. WordsfailmetodescribehowamazedthememberswerethatJeddidsowell. WiththeexceptionofMortimertheywereallquiteimpressed. Mortimerwasfurious. HeknewthatwithJedinthecontesthewouldreallyhavetoworkatwinning.
接着比赛就开始了。我无法用语言描述那些成员有多吃惊，因为杰德实在是太棒了。除莫蒂默之外，大家都留下了深刻的印象。莫蒂默愤怒了。他知道有杰德参加比赛，他得真的想办法取胜。

等到最后的参赛者只剩下杰德和莫蒂默，莫蒂默能看出来杰德正在想拿那些赢来的钱干什么。痴心妄想吧，他对杰德说。然后站起来开始举重。
Hestruggled, buthesucceeded.
他挣扎了一会儿，可是他成功了。

接着杰德成功地举起了同样的重量！他甚至是轻而易举举起来的！莫蒂默开始感到紧张了。
OnthenextroundMortimerlost. Jedwasthechampion. Jedwasthewinner. ItwaswithinreasonthatMortimerwouldcongratulateJed. Hedidn'tgiveonesignwithrespecttoJed!
在下一轮比赛中莫蒂默输了。杰德获得了冠军。杰德是胜利者。莫蒂默对杰德表示祝贺是合情合理的。可他没有对杰德做出怀着尊重的表示！
AsheleftMortimerturnedandsaidsomethingtoeveryonethattheywouldalwaysrememberwordforword!
他离开的时候，莫蒂默转身对大家说了一些话，他们将永远一字不改地记得这些话！
Withtheadventofacommonerwinningthiscompetition, youhaveopenedthegatesofyourowndemise!
“随着贫民赢得这场比赛，你们已经打开了自己的死亡之门！”
ThenJedsaid, "Withregardtoyourreputationforsportsmanship, letitbeknownthatyouhavenone!"
接着杰德说，“就你在运动家品格方面的名声而言，让大家知道你欠缺得很厉害吧！”
