TheFedchiefnotedthatfollowingasharpreboundineconomicactivitylastsummer, thepaceofrecoveryhas "moderated" inrecentmonths, withweaknessconcentratedinsectorsmostadverselyaffectedbytheresurgenceofthevirusandgreatersocialdistancing.

"Sufficientlywidespreadvaccinationswouldenableustoputthepandemicbehindusandreturntomorenormaleconomicactivities," hesaid. "Inthemeantime, continuedobservanceofsocialdistancingandwearingmaskswillhelpusreachthegoalassoonaspossible."
