AsIapproachedtoseewhatwashappeningIgotmyfirstintroductiontoyardsales[4]. ForthefewdollarsIhadinmywallet, Iwasabletobuymyownseven-inchblack-and-whiteportableTV[5]. Ialsoboughtaflashlightinacountrythatalmostnevergoesdark, becausemymindwasstillthinkingofGuatemalawheretheelectricitygoesouteverynightduringtherainingseason.[6]
Thefollowingweekend, atanotheryardsale, Isawa 14-inchcolorTVbeingsoldforalmostnothing[7]. IfeltIcouldnotmissthisofferandboughtit. NowIhadtwosetsandcouldn’twaittoseewhatelseIcouldaffordthenextweekend.
