Thebanditwasveryboldandhegrufflycaughttheprincessbythesleeveofherkimono.

      "Helpme! Helpme!" theprincesscried. Shetriedtoescapefromthebandit, buthewastoostrong, andheheldherfast.

      Seeingtheprincessindanger, TinyFingerunsheathedhisneedleswordandsprangattheshaggybandit. Runningandkicking, hefinallysucceededinprickingthebanditinasensitivespotwithhisneedlesword.

      "Oh! Oh! Oh! Ihavebeencut!" roaredthebandit. Thenhelookedallaroundfortheonewhohadhurthim. ButTinyFingerwassosmallthathecouldruninandoutbetweenthebandit'sfeet, stickingthelongneedleintothebandit'sbigtoesandintohisheels. AndthebanditwassotallandsoclumsythathecouldnotcatchTinyFinger. Norcouldheescapefromhim. Everytimethebandittriedtorunaway, TinyFingerwouldcatchhimbyonetrouserlegandstickhimwithhisneedle. Thishedidmany, manytimes, andeverytimethebandittriedtocatchTinyFinger, thelittleboywouldhidebetweenthebandit'stoesorinthefoldsofhistrousers.
