Six decades ago, General de Gaulle defied Western Bloc pressure by establishing diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between China and France. In his remarks on France and China at his news conference, de Gaulle envisioned, "Indeed it is clear that France must be able to hear China directly and also to make herself heard by China" – an assertion of courage, boldness, and wisdom that resonates globally to this day.
60年前戴高乐将军顶住西方阵营的重重压力，主动向中国伸出友谊之手，公开表示“法国理应直接倾听中国，也让中国听到法国的声音”，他的勇气、胆识和智慧至今令世人钦佩。
In January, while celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and France, President Xi Jinping delivered a video speech and reiterated the "China-France spirit," characterized by independence, mutual understanding, foresight, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.
今年一月，在庆祝中法建交60周年之际，习近平主席在视频致辞中重申“中法精神”：独立自主、相互理解、高瞻远瞩、互利共赢。
Independence remains the political cornerstone and source of momentum necessary for navigating the bilateral relations. Mutual understanding acts as the guarantee for the two nations to get along and maintain a good relationship. Foresight guides strategic cooperation, enabling the resolution of challenges and differences. Meanwhile, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation define the goal and the direction of Sino-French relations. The practice and persistence of the spirit has put China-France relations at the forefront of China's relations with Western countries, enabling the ties between the two nations to weather the changing international landscapes.
其中“独立自主”是两国关系的政治基础和动力源泉。“相互理解”是两国相处之道和良好关系的保证。“高瞻远瞩”是加强合作、克服困难、化解分歧的理念和方式。“互利共赢”是发展两国关系的目标和方向。正是由于对中法关系的坚守和践行，中法关系才能长期走在中西方关系的前列，并在当前纷繁复杂的国际形势下逆势而上。
Over the past 60 years, China and France have cultivated fruitful cooperation in many fields, spanning nuclear energy, high-speed railway, aerospace, agriculture, healthcare and more, which have brought tangible benefits to the people of the two countries.
过去的60年里，中法在核能、高铁、航空、航天、农业、食品、医疗、卫生等多个领域取得了丰硕合作成果，给两国人民带来了实实在在的好处。
At present, China and France are both at the threshold of a new historical starting point of national development. China is accelerating the creation of a new development pattern and pursuing high-quality development. Key issues confronting China encompass developing new quality productive forces, modernizing its industrial system, revitalizing its rural areas and fostering coordinated regional development. Similarly, France is also grappling with pressing issues, including energy transition, digital transformation and an aging population.
当前中法两国各自站在国家发展新的历史起点上，中国正在加快构建新发展格局、着力推动高质量发展、面临着培育新质生产力、建设现代化产业体系、全面推进乡村振兴、促进区域协调发展等重大课题。法国也面临着能源转型、数字转型以及应对人口老龄化等重要任务。
The two sides should expedite cooperation in burgeoning areas such as artificial intelligence, digital economy, green manufacturing, sustainable development and silver economy, and further promote agricultural cooperation represented by "from French farms to Chinese tables." The endeavor will solidify bonds across industrial chains, facilitate capital flows and foster robust personnel exchanges. President Xi's visit is expected to inject new impetus into China-France cooperation in various fields, guiding the two countries to explore new areas and avenues of cooperation in no time.
双方应该加快推动在人工智能、数字经济、绿色制造、可持续发展、银发经济等新兴领域的合作，进一步推动以“从法国农场到中国餐桌”为代表的农食合作，在产业链、资金链和人员交流等方面联结起更加紧密的纽带。习主席此次访问预计将为中法各领域的合作注入新的活力，引领中法双方以“时不我待”的历史主动精神，努力开拓新领域、新赛道。
China and Europe stand as the twin pillars of multipolarity, driving globalization and championing diversity. Engulfed in turmoil, the world needs stable Sino-French and Sino-European relations to anchor peace and development.
中欧是推动多极化的两大力量、支持全球化的两大市场、倡导多样性的两大文明。当前，世界局势动乱不断，稳定的中法、中欧关系将是维系世界和平发展的重要纽带。
At the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron of the Republic of France, President Aleksandar Vucic of the Republic of Serbia, and President Tamas Sulyok and Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary, President Xi Jinping will pay state visits to France, Serbia and Hungary from May 5 to 10.
应法国总统马克龙、塞尔维亚总统武契奇、匈牙利总统舒尤克和总理欧尔班邀请，中国国家主席习近平将于5月5日至10日对上述三国进行国事访问。
During the visit, President Xi Jinping will work with the leaders of France, Serbia and Hungary to steer the healthy development of bilateral relations and China-Europe relations, injecting fresh momentum into expanding and deepening mutually beneficial collaborations.
访问期间，习近平主席将同法国、塞尔维亚、匈牙利领导人为双边关系、中欧关系健康发展指引方向，为拓展深化互利合作注入动力。
Looking back at the moments of friendly exchanges between China and France in recent years, we can see that head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic role as the linchpin of the China-France relationship. When President Emmanuel Macron visited China last year, the two leaders enjoyed a guqin performance, took a sip of tea, reminisced about history and shared insights into the present by the water in the Pine Garden in Guangzhou.
回望近年来中法两国友好交往的点滴瞬间，我们可以看到，元首外交发挥着不可替代的战略引领作用，是中法关系的“定海神针”。去年马克龙总统访华时，两国元首在广州松园临水而坐，听琴品茗，纵论古今。
During President Xi's current visit to France, the two leaders will meet on many different occasions and have extensive and in-depth communications on various issues. They will also have extended and intimate discussions in an atmosphere of mutual trust, candor and relaxation. I believe that thanks to the in-depth strategic communication between the two leaders, many important consensuses and major results will be reached this time. After the 2019 Nice talks, April's tea party in the Yuyuan Garden, and the meeting in the Pine Garden, the story of "meeting close friends amidst high mountains and flowing waters" continues to be written and will become the highlight of President Xi's European trip.
此次习近平主席访法期间，两国元首将在多个不同场合会面，就各种议题进行广泛深入沟通，也将在相互信任、坦诚放松的良好氛围中，进行长时间、小范围交流。相信得益于两国元首的深度战略沟通，此次访问必将达成许多重要共识和重大成果，在尼斯夜谈、豫园茶叙、松园会晤之后，续写“高山流水遇知音”的佳话，成为此次习近平主席欧洲之行的亮点。
Over the span of 60 years, the global landscape as well as China and France have undergone profound transformations. Yet, amidst the ever-changing dynamics, the enduring principles of Charles de Gaulle and the "China-France spirit" still shine brightly. It is imperative for China and France to bear their original aspiration in mind, walking hand in hand and together shouldering great power responsibilities. In doing so, the two nations can issue a resounding call for peace, cooperation and dialogue on the global stage.
60年一甲子。世界、中国和法国都发生了巨大变化，但戴高乐主义和“中法精神”依然熠熠生辉。中法两国应当不忘初心、携手同行，共同承担大国责任、展现大国担当，向世界发出和平、合作、对话的时代强音。
