Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 1/2 years in prison for murder in the death of George Floyd. Chauvin still faces a federal trial on civil rights charges in Floyd's death.
Officials say there are still 159 people unaccounted for after the partial collapse of a beachside building in Florida. Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava says there's still hope of finding survivors in the rubble more than 24 hours after the building collapsed.
In her first trip to the US-Mexico border as Vice President, Kamala Harris says the Biden administration has made progress tackling a spike in migration. Harris called the situation at the border "tough" and said there's more to be done.
Top Afghanistan leaders are in Washington Friday to meet with President Joe Biden and other US officials. The Biden administration is stepping up plans for withdrawal ahead of the president's Sept. 11 deadline to end the nearly 20-year-old war.
