WUHAN/GUANGZHOU, March 19 -- Withahigh-speedrailwaytraincarrying 551 migrantworkersdepartingcentralChina'sHubeiProvinceThursday, theprovincehard-hitbythecoronavirusaresendingmoreworkerstosouthChina'smanufacturingheartlandGuangdongProvince.
DepartingfromthecityofJingzhouat 1:20 p.m., thetrainisthefirstcharteredhigh-speedrailwaytrainfromHubeitosendmigrantworkerstotheirworkplacesaftertheSpringFestival.
"I'msoexcitedthatI'mabletoboardthefirstcharteredtrainandgobacktowork," saidChenAnxin, whoworksatanadvertisingcompanyinGuangzhoubuthasbeenstayinginhishometownofJianliCountyinJingzhouforabouttwomonthsduetothecoronavirusoutbreak.
OnThursday, atotalof 1,631 migrantworkershaveboardedthetrainsforGuangdong, withtheotherhigh-speedrailwaytraincarrying 1,080 peopledepartingataround 3:13 p.m. fromJingzhouheadingforShenzhen.
Alltheworkershadbeenissuedhealthcodes, testednegativeafternucleicacidtestingandwentthrougha 14-dayquarantinebeforetheyboardedthetrains.
The 551 workersonthefirsttrainwillarriveinGuangzhouThursdaynight, and "point-to-point" tripswillbearrangedtosendthemdirectlytothecompaniesandfactoriestheyworkfor.
