BAGHDAD, March 17 -- IraqiPrimeMinisterAdelAbdulMahdisaidonSundaythathiscountrywon'treturntowarpoliciesasthefriendtoallregionalcountriesandanadvocateofpeace.
AbdulMahdimadethecommentsduringameetingwithQatariMinisterofCommerceandIndustryAlibinAhmedal-KuwariandhisaccompanyingdelegationinthecapitalBaghdad, accordingtoastatementbyAbdulMahdi'smediaoffice.
"Iraqisapeaceelementthatwouldservetheregionandwillnotreturntothepoliciesofdestructivewars," thestatementquotedAbdulMahdiassaying.
"OurinterestsarewithourneighborsandwehaveastrongwilltoopenandcooperatewithQatarinallfields, andtoexchangeinterestsintheeconomic, tradeandinvestmentfields," theprimeministeradded.
Forhispart, al-KuwarisaidQatarisdeterminedtoincreasecooperationwithIraqandexpandrelationsineconomic, trade, constructionandinvestment.
TheQatariministeralsoexpressedhiscountry'sdesiretosignafreetradeagreementwithIraqtoexchange, encourageandprotectinvestmentsbetweenthetwocountries.
Earlierintheday, al-Kuwari, headingadelegationofmorethan 30 businessmenandinvestors, arrivedinBaghdadwiththeaimofboostingbilateralrelations, particularlyintheeconomicandinvestmentsectors.
ThevisitoftheQataridelegationtoIraqcomesjustdaysafterthevisitofaSaudieconomicdelegation, whichaimedatactivatingrelationsonthestrategiclevelandopeningnewhorizonsforcooperationinpolitics, economy, tradeandinvestment.
