Congratulations, everyone, you’vemadeit.
Afteralltheyearsofworkandeffort, allthemanyhoursspenthunchedoveryourdesks, allthehomework, afterallofthat, you’refinishingschoolthissummerandyoudeserveeverypraiseandcelebrationpossible. Because, let’sfaceit, thisafinalyearlikenoother. YourlastmonthsofschoolhavecoincidedwiththegreatestcrisisourcountryhasfacedsincetheSecondWorldWar.
AndsothefirstthingIwanttosayisthankyou. Thankyoufortheincredibleeffortyou’veputintodoingtherightthingoverthepastweeksandmonths. Itwasyoureducationthatwasdisrupted, yourlivesthatweredisrupted. Andnow, asmanyofyouaremissingoutonceagainonpartiesandfestivals, presentations, perhapsevenlong-plannedholidays, Iwantyoutoknowthatyoureffortshavebeenworthit. Becauseofyou, becauseofyoursacrifice, we’vesavedhundredsofthousandsoflives. Andthat’snotsomethingmanygenerationswillbeabletosayabouttheirfinalweeksatschool – notyoureldersiblings, certainlynotyourparents.
