HELSINKI, Aug. 30 -- FinlandandFrancegavedeclarationsonEuropeandefenseandthefutureofartificialintelligenceonThursday, whenFrenchPresidentEmmanuelMacronwrappeduphisvisittoFinland.
FinlandandFranceunderlinedthegoalofcreating "strongerautonomous" Europeanmilitarypreparednessbythenextdecade. ThegoalmustbebasedonthestrongEuropeandefenseindustriesandonsharedinstrumentsoffinancing, saidthedeclaration.
FinlandandFrancecalledfor "theemergenceofagenuinecommonEuropeanstrategicculturebasedondefencecooperationwithagreedmutualdependence."
Commentingonthedeclaration, FinnishPrimeMinisterJuhaSipilaunderlinedthatthedeclarationtakesupthemutualsolidaritythatismentionedintheLisbontreaty.
Talkingtothemedia, Sipiladeploredthat "tomanycountriesinEurope, Europeandefensecooperationhasbeenmeaningcrisismanagement". MacronsaidFinlandandFrancesharedthesamethreatanalysis.
Thedeclarationdefinedthat "allbilateralormultilateralcooperationmustmakeitpossibletodealhead-onwiththeterroristthreat, hybridthreatsandpowerpolicies."
FinlandandFrancesaidthattheinterventioninitiativelaunchedbyFranceaimsatpromotingthebirthofajointEuropeanstrategiccultureandtostrengthentheabilityofEuropeanstoreactjointlytothreats, inadditionto "existingframeworks, includingEUorNATOoperations".
