That’sneverbeenmoreimportant. Asacountry, we’vejustemergedfromanoisy, passionate, andsometimesdivisivecampaignseason. Afterall, electionsareoftenwhereweemphasizewhatsetsusapart. Wefaceoffinacontestof “us” versus “them.” Wefocusonthecandidatewesupportinsteadofsomeoftheidealsweshare.
Butafewshortweekslater, Thanksgivingremindsusthatnomatterourdifferences, wearestillonepeople, partofsomethingbiggerthanourselves. Wearecommunitiesthatmoveforwardtogether. Weareneighborswholookoutforoneanother, especiallythoseamonguswiththeleast. Wearealways, simply, Americans.
