倒装句就是将正常的陈述语序加以变化,主要作用是强调被提前的部分。倒装句可分为全部倒装和部分倒装两种：
一、全部倒装
将主语和谓语完全颠倒过来,谓语动词提前至主语之前，叫做完全倒装(CompleteInversion)。
如:Incameamanwithawhitebeard.
Outcamehisguest.
Onthehillstoodalittlecottagethatcontainedheapsofhay.
Therelivedanelderlyladywhosehusbanddiedlongago.
二、部分倒装
只将助动词(包括情态动词)移至主语之前,谓语动词位置不变,叫做部分倒装(PartialInversion)。
如:OnlyoncewasJohnlatetoclass.
Neithercouldheseethroughyourplan.
SolittledidIknowabouthimthatIwaseasilytakeninbyhiswords.
